Waywood Training was established by Director
Dr Stuart Wood
as part of Waywood Enterprises
Limited, to deliver training of the highest standard for people in business
and education. Stuart's passion for excellence, accessibility and making
the complex easy motivate all he does.
'Stuart is a rare individual. His ability to create sense from chaos, to distil clarity of thinking from murky waters and to impart technical knowledge in a way that makes it all seem simple, is a unique gift. His dry humour and ability to view things from a different angle, was of huge value and support to me in my role. Always challenging and thorough in his dissection, Stuart was great to work with and made meetings interesting! Put simply, he is a man many could learn from, pragmatic, human, reflective and passionate about the positive impact of what he does.'
SM : DeMontfort University, Leics.
Derived from more than 18 years experience in clinical
research, training and education, these hands-on workshops and formal
presentations engage a wide range of audiences in education and business. The
Clinical Trial Experience is designed to augment and consolidate learning
for students from Year 8 at school through to undergraduates and post-graduates students at university.
It also highlights a number of careers not widely known outside of the
pharmaceutical industry.
This training is also ideal for business professionals (and non-professionals)
in industry and for professional societies whose members are allied to the
clinical research process, particularly new graduates or individuals considering a
career change.

Waywood
Training combines expertise in science and music to provide practical,
creative drumming & percussion workshops which help people discover, develop and apply their individual creative skills, essential in today's world and marketplace
and the powerhouse for innovation.
Each workshop is tailored to the needs of participants. Individuals learn
how to cultivate, identify and apply their creativity, also benefitting from
improved team-building and team-working skills, increased confidence and in many
cases significant relief of stress!
"'Knowing Stuart's passion as a musician, I also invited Stuart to do some team development work with percussion instruments, this was a fantastic session, one of the best team building sessions I have ever been involved with. I would most definitely recommend involving Stuart on this hands on musical session with your teams. Overall a great and extremely knowledgeable person to work with.'"

ingredient in any modern economy'

For Teachers - Waywood Training helps teachers discover and realise their own creativity, equipping
them with the tools to identify and nurture creativity in
their classroom: building confidence and helping to revitalise and re-energise
the classroom experience for both teachers and pupils.
We also find that creativity is contagious so it impacts
the wider school and staff.
For Students -
Waywood Training provides dynamic and
interactive learning through 'The
Clinical Trial Experience.' Both students and teachers
learn how to run their own clinical trial, thereby gaining an
understanding of how clinical trials are run in real-life.
Students also learn how the science they learn in school (and
possibly later at University) is applied in a work situation.

Stuart is also a STEM Ambassador for schools, operating in Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland.
"'I had the pleasure of working with Stuart for 4 years. He is a pro-active "can do" person with a positive and creative approach to his work. He establishes constructive relationships with customers quickly, based upon trust and mutual respect. He has an ability to impart detailed and complicated information in a clear and concise manner while engaging his audience. I have no hesitation in recommending Stuart.'"

IN THE NEWS:
DRUMMING FOR HEALTH
As presented on the BBC, 10th February 2009
Could a natural rhythm - which some experts believe we all possess - be a cure
for a variety of health problems?
Some certainly think so. Musician Simon Lee, from Kent, is called on to teach
drumming to patients with problems ranging from addiction to autism, and
learning difficulties to mental health issues. He has even offered help to
terminally ill patients needing palliative care. And he says the results are
amazing.
Experts believe that rhythmic drumming can aid health by inducing a deep sense
of relaxation, reducing stress, and lowering blood pressure.
"Drumming has a number of benefits," said Simon. "It can energise or relax. It
can foster a sense of playfulness or release anger and tension. It can also help
in the conquering of social isolation and the building of positive
relationships."
One patient, an alcoholic, told Simon her drumming sessions had helped her so
much it had given her the inspiration to continue with a gruelling detox course.
"She said when she came into the clinic she was extremely negative and the first
two or three days the treatment was purely about detox and heavy stuff," said
Simon.br>
"The drumming was the first time she engaged and smiled." She said
"I came out
of myself and saw that I could survive."
Simon, who also carries out drumming sessions for the general public, said there
was a growing interest in the therapeutic effect it could have, both on the
individual and the community. "There is strong evidence to suggest that drumming
may actually be a healing activity," he said. "Some have gone so far as to prove
that time spent drumming can positively affect our immune systems, levels of
stress and psychological well being."
